How to Use Plastic Plants
&
Ornament Cleaner
Aquarium ornaments and plastic plants offer a simple and effective way to enhance the appearance of any aquarium.
They are designed from aquarium-safe materials that do not release harmful compounds or alter water chemistry, ensuring a stable and healthy environment for your fish. Manufactured from high-quality plastics and resins, and finished with non-toxic paints, these decorations are both durable and completely safe for aquatic life.
Artificial ornaments can replicate natural rocks, roots, or corals with impressive realism — often making them nearly indistinguishable from the real thing — or provide a creative, decorative touch in more stylized designs. Plastic plants offer an easy and maintenance-free way to recreate the beauty of natural aquatic vegetation, without the need for fertilizers, CO₂ systems, or special lighting.
Over time, a light build-up of algae or detritus may occur on these surfaces, slightly dulling their appearance. Regular rinsing and gentle cleaning will easily restore their original look and keep your aquarium looking fresh and vibrant.
Instruction
1.
Remove decorations one at a time. You may be in a hurry to get your tank looking fresh, but never clean all of your decorations at once. Decorations are home to helpful bacteria that keep your fish healthy. Removing them all at once can upset the balance of your aquarium.
- Removing all of the decorations at once is stressful for your fish.
- Keep your fish in the tank. There’s no need to remove them when cleaning parts of the tank.
- Wash your hands with warm water and soap before you reach into the fish tank. Make sure you’ve rinsed all of the soap off your hands. Soap is terrible for fish and can kill them.
2.
In 10 litres of water and 1 tablet of Plastic Plant & Ornament Cleaner™
Place the plastic plant and ornament in a separate container containing 10 litres of water and 1 tablet of Plastic Plant & Ornament Cleaner™.
Allow the items to soak for at least 8 hours to ensure thorough cleaning and disinfection.
3.
Once soaking is complete, discard the used solution and rinse the ornaments well with clean water to remove all visible residues.
4.
Rinse the decoration with cool water. Once you’ve scrubbed each decoration, run it under cool water for a minute or two. This will remove any remaining chemicals.
- Do not dry the decorations off after rinsing them. This is unnecessary.
5.
Prepare a second container with 10 litres of fresh, clean water and add 20 drops (≈1 mL) of Safe Solution™.
6.
Place the previously cleaned ornaments into this solution and let them soak for 10–15 minutes.
This step neutralises reactive residues from the cleaning process and restores chemical balance on the surface of the ornaments.
After soaking, rinse once more with clean water.
7.
The ornaments are now safe to return to the aquarium and will look clean, bright, and refreshed.
