Overview

Legend Ar Mathor™ Mainly made of pumice stone with a porous surface, which is ideal environment for beneficial bacteria to colonize. Biological filtration starts quickly after the initial setup. It also enables long, stable filtration. The iregular shape gives a high bulk density. Thus the whole of the volume in the filter (filter baskets or modules) can be utilised. Also the optimum surface of the beads provides intensive colonisation of the important purification bacteria.

Due to the high number of bacteria, peak nitrite loads are more easily reduced and the maintenance intervals of the filter material are longer.

A build-up of toxic nitrogenous wastes is a natural result of all aquarium inhabitant's life processes. In nature, the body of water is large enough to dissipate or dilute these wastes. Some will even be converted into usable energy by living organisms. Within an aquarium however, without a powerful biological breakdown of these toxins, the fish literally poison themselves. This is the reason why biological filtration is the most desirable of all aquarium filtration.

This type of filtration is the purification of the aquarium water by using living organisms, such as nitrifying bacteria. These desirable bacteria will attach themselves to all hard surfaces within the aquarium system. They use the toxins as a food, converting harmful toxins such as ammonia and nitrite into less harmful nitrate. Nitrate can then be removed by performing regular water changes. After prolonged use, mechanical and chemical filter media will act in a biological manner. They provide some surface area for bacterial colonization but this is actually very limited. In order to provide the greatest amount of surface area for bacteria colonies, filter media such as Legend Ar Mathor™ should be used.

Legend Ar Mathor™ Mainly made of pumice stone with a porous surface

Dosage

Use 250 mL of Legend Ar Mathor™ for each 200 L (50 US gallons)** of water. Legend Ar Mathor™ may be placed in any kind of filter and is particularly effective in a canister filter. Legend Ar Mathor™ is sufficiently large that no filter bag should be required for most applications.

Recomandation

Check your filter regularly

Keep the inlet clear of debris

Clean the aquarium filter periodically

Keep the filter medium moist and the bacteria will survive

NITRIFICATION

It is the most important! Toxic and algae-causing ammonia in the aquarium must be decomposed. As fast as possible. Billions of bacteria growing in the filter convert ammonia into nitrite and then nitrate.

WATER CIRCULATION

Nutrients (plant food and CO2) must reach the plants. Solid decomposition products should be kept afloat. Good performance is essential.

WATER TREATMENT

Solid decomposition products must be physically removed from the aquarium and decomposed in a filter or removed during cleaning.
